Review: Water Bound by Christine Feehan

Wow!!! Christine Feehan begins a new saga with her "Sisters of the Heart" series. It has not been easy waiting for Christine Feehan to work her magic, the excitement of getting my hands on this new book was gnarly. This series is a spin off from her "Drake Sisters" series. Although you don't have to read the previous "Drake Sisters" series in order to read Water Bound, I highly recommend you do (it's a great series).

Water Bound takes place in the quaint town of Sea Haven. There the elemental forces of nature unite two tortured souls.

Rikki Sitmore lives in a world parallel to the everyday citizens of Sea Haven. She will never be like other women, her life is bound to water. She needs water to help stabilize her life. Dreams of fire torture her. For the first time in her life, she has found peace on her farm. She has all the things she loves by her side, her sisters, her boat, and her beloved water. She believes in the law of the sea, what she finds is hers, and now she has found something alright! That something is in the form of one, Lev Prakensi.

Lev Prakensi can't fill in the blanks to his past. An accident at sea has left him searching for answers. The only thing he does know is that whatever his past held, will now stay in the past. His future is Rikki. Rikki and Lev are scarred both physically and emotionally by the past . When the past comes to destroy Rikki's life, Lev has promised to protect her.

Water Bound has a little of everything for your reading pleasure.

Review: Chains of Ice by Christina Dodd

Evil rears its ugly head once again in Christina Dodd’s third book in the Chosen Ones .
Genny Valente finally can have the dream job she has always wanted, but it comes with a catch. She has always tried to make her father happy and always failed. Now, she must promise to do his bidding, if she wants to take her dream job. The job she has always invisioned for herself. She must find John Powell and convince him to join the Gypsy Travel Agency, once again. Genny finds herself working with an eccentric group of people documenting the beautiful Ural lynx, in Rasputye, Russia. The only problem is that the “John” she was sent to find, is not the “John” she finds up on the cold mountain. All is not what it seems and evil is always close by.

John Powell has been in a self imposed exile for the last two years. Tormented by the past and his gift, he has become a recluse on the cold mountain of his youth. He has been lost and dead inside, only to have his whole world turned upside down by a simple touch. While all the inhabitants of the small village feared and ignored him, Genny has ignited a desire to come alive again. John and betrayal have met before, and his only request of Genny, is that she never betray him.

John and Genny can feel the powerful force of destiny pulling their souls together. Their union will start the beginning of unrest in the village and drive them apart. John and Genny must both overcome their past fears and sorrows in order to be able to love in the present, both will play an integrate part in the prophecy the Chosen Ones must bring to fruitacion, but not before evil has its way with them.

*In my opinion this is the best book in the Chosen Ones series to date.

Hypnotic!!!

FMBF Is Over

Well, that was great. It's no longer, Friday. 12:00 Am -officially July 10th. No more "Follow My Blog Friday". Wow! I loved it!! Talk about generating traffic on my blog. I found some great blogs today. I would say that FMBF is the equivalent to speed dating, but you come away with a smile, not a headache and disappointment. I have been at it since 6:00 AM. Can't wait till next Friday. Thanks for all the great comments. Until the tomorrow, I'm out. Must read !!!

Spanish Readers

Today's morning post is a shout out to my fellow Spanish readers. Although I tend to read in English more than Spanish, a friend asked me how she could find the books I have in my library in Spanish. Amazon does sell a few, but I have found that Casa del Libro (casadellibro.com) has many of my favorite authors like: Lynn Viehl, Nina Bangs, Maggie Shayne, Diane Whiteside, & Christeine Feehan to name a few. Tidbit for Book Lovers

If you're like me, you have tons of books. I really can't stand the way they smell when they sit on the shelf. I have a great tidbit for book lovers. When you dust off your books in the library, take it one step further. Take a fabric softener sheet (I use Snuggle) for the dryer, and rub the book with it (Dry not wet.). I rub the cover of the book (front and back) and the front and back flyleaf. This gently dusts and deodorizes the book. Nice clean and fresh smelling books, it's a
"no-brainer". This trick is good for both hardcovers and paperbacks.

My little island has gone a bit crazy. The majority of my young adult life was spent growing up in the states. I now live in the Caribbean (PR) and am loving it, but on occasions I miss living in the states. There is great turmoil here, as well in the states, with the loss of jobs. Finger pointing and protesting are not making a difference. Last week protesters and the police had an ugly encounter in front of the capital building in San Juan. It saddens me to see such harsh treatment against my fellow islanders. (Granted some of the protesters had ulterior motives) The truth of the matter is that unless you have felt and lived in the shoes of those less fortunate, you as a lawmakers (making $100,000 plus) are clueless. It's time they get in touch with life for those who aren't wealthy. The view is not the same from the top. It's not politics, it's humanity. They need to find new reading material, and get in touch with living pay check to paycheck! Read, become knowledgeable, then make decisions.

Going Back and Visiting Old Friends

I'm always reading, and waiting to read the next book, but this past week I've gone back to read the first book in the series. I have the "read them and leave them" mentality. Although I never get rid of them. This past week I read Lynn Viehl's second book in the Kyndred Series, "Dreamveil". I loved it, but as I was finishing the story and then later after the sneak peak of the next book, decided I was going back to read the first book, "Shadowlight". As I started reading Shadowlight, I had a blast. The depth of Rowan in the first book is incredible. I love the part where she describes her relationship with hunger. The following is an excerpt from "Shadowlight", were Rowan is remembering her past. "It was hunger that she feared. That grinning death-headed motherfucker..." You feel her obsession with food as if it were your own. So, if you are currently reading a sequel, GO BACK, and read the first book or books. I found that Lyynn Viehl did a superb job of staying true to her character and bring her to life in the second book. It's because of this dedication to the craft, that draws the book flies like me back for more, and sometimes the need to visit great old friends is a must. Read Shadowlight again and then read Dreamveil by Lynn Viehl, you will catch up on old friends and meet new ones. Happy Reading!!!!
